iStar sCMOS Theory Video: Introduction to Technology Inside iStars

Abstract

The nanosecond time scale measurement capability of the iStar intensified cameras allows for increasingly complex and novel measurements synchronized with a lab full of other instruments. This video is made to introduce users to the technology behind iStar intensified sCMOS cameras and the theory behind how they operate.

Learning Objectives

  • Introduce users to the internal components of the iStar intensified cameras.
  • Understand how concepts apply to iStar usage like overcoming the noise floor for increased sensitivity, CCD vs sCMOS sensors, field of view, and using high frame rates.
  • Provide background theories for how to think about maximising iStar acquisition configuration settings of other hands-on demo videos.
