Software Development Kit

The Andor Software Development Kit (SDK) gives the programmer access to the Andor camera and spectrograph range, allowing the data acquisition process to be configured to meet your requirements. For our OEM partners, the SDK will be offered for all our products without additional costs.

Depending on the product you are using, you need to select between SDK3 and SDK2, each supporting different technologies –and both offering the same, intuitive, straightforward, and user-friendly approach. The key part of the SDK is the Dynamic Link Library (DLL) which can be used with a wide variety of programming environments, including, C, C++, C#, Python, Matlab, and LabVIEW. The library is available both in 32-bit and 64-versions for Windows 10 and 11, and Linux.

In addition to the SDK, we can also offer you a licence of our basic data acquisition software SOLIS for your development. SOLIS supports all our product and full set of functionalities available through SDKs, so you have a tool to test, validate, and debug your software implementation.

Andor SDK3

Andor SDK Version 3, herein referred to as SDK3, has been designed from the ground up to simplify integration of the Andor sCMOS camera range into your application. This SDK supports Andor current Zyla, ZL41, Sona, Marana, and iStar sCMOS products.

With SDK3 you can access the optimised functionalities of these sCMOS cameras from spectroscopy modes to advanced triggering.  There are also functions to save the images with the full data rate offered with these high speed cameras.

Andor SDK2

The Andor SDK version 2, SDK2 gives the programmer access to the full range of Andor CCD and Intensified CCD cameras. The SDK provides functions to control the CCD dedicated sensor read-out parameters, sensor temperature, and shutter operations.

The SDK2 offers also the access for all the functionalities for our full range of spectrometers. It gives you a possibility to control for example shutter, focusing, and grating selection with your bespoke software.

GPU Express

The Andor GPU Express library has been created to simplify and optimize data transfers from camera to a CUDA enabled Nvidia Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) card to facilitate accelerated GPU processing during the acquisition pipeline. The initial release is designed to co-operate with Andor’s Software Development Kit Version 3 (SDK3) library for utilization with Andor’s sCMOS camera range. The GPU Express library can also be utilized with Andor SDK2 based cameras, however, the example suite provided is set up for use with SDK3. (Linux is not currently supported).
