Hypersonic Laser Diagnostic Technique Development: Using Intensified CCD vs sCMOS

Turbulence in gas flows around hypersonic vehicles can lead to both degradation of the vehicle walls and to enhanced mixing of fuel and air in air-breathing engines. Therefore, understanding how extreme changes in the internal energies of gas molecules (due to shock waves) can couple with turbulence may enable more efficient hypersonic vehicle designs.
