iStar sCMOS Demo Exercises: External Triggering: Impedance, Grounding, and Jitter

Abstract

The ns time scale measurement capability of the iStar intensified cameras allows for increasingly complex and novel measurements synchronized with a lab full of other instruments. This video is made to teach about how complex interactions of instruments can lead to difficult problems to diagnose. It then presents ways of solving these problems. Topics covered include impedance matching/ringing, grounding, and jitter. This video could also be useful for owners of other cameras/complex instrumentation in most cases.

Learning Objectives

  • Provide guided demonstrations that users can follow-along in their lab.
  • Introduce users to causes of difficult problems to troubleshoot in synchronized systems.
  • Learn different ways to solve issues related to signal ringing, grounding issues, and jitter.
