Our core purpose is to empower our customers to address some of the world's most pressing challenges, enabling a greener economy, increased connectivity, improved health and leaps in scientific understanding.
We are devoted to accelerating the greatest scientific advancements of our age. It matters to us that the products we develop make a real difference to our customers and contribute significantly to their research.
We want to deliver differentiated, accessible solutions to the widest possible scientific research and industrial communities.
We were born out of Queen’s University Belfast in 1989 and we have matured into one of the world’s most innovative companies in the Photonics industry, measuring light down to a single photon and capturing events occurring within 1 billionth of a second.
Innovation, passion and teamwork have been the driving forces behind our growth and success for over 30 years.
We have over 70 unique product solutions, 10,000 customers in 55 countries and 400 staff in 16 offices worldwide including the UK, China, Japan and the USA.
We joined the Oxford Instruments family in 2013 and sit as 1 of 7 businesses within the Group, strengthening our position to innovate in our chosen markets.
In order to meet increased customer demand, Andor moved to a new, purpose-built 50,000sq. ft site in Belfast in 2004.
This is our largest facility and it includes state of the art optical, electronic and mechanical workshops and a 3000sq. ft clean room, as well as vacuum and electronic processing facilities.
We also maintain sales and support facilities throughout the world to ensure we are close to our customers. Please refer to our support section to find your nearest Andor office.
Through continuous dialogue with customers, strong teamwork, and a desire to challenge the status quo, we continue to create inspiring products that improve the world in which we live.
Our ground-breaking low light imaging cameras, spectroscopy solutions and microscopy systems are being used to develop cures for cancer, explore deeper into space and examine clean energy sources.
It excites us that our solutions are widely used in papers published in high-impact journals like Nature, Neuron, Journal of Cell Biology and many more.
Andor’s extensive portfolio of high-performance imaging cameras are suited to a wide range of applications across physical science and life science.
Our technologies offer a superb combination of sensitivity, speed and dynamic range, ensuring we have the ideal solution for your research experiments.
Our spectrograph family is based on Czerny-Turner, Echelle or Transmission optical designs, and offers a range of highly configurable or highly specialised platforms to best suit your experimental requirements.
Our range of detectors offer a wide range of sensitivity, time-resolution and sensor formats to best suit specific experimental conditions from UV to SWIR, macro- to nano-scale, with fluxes down to single photon and time-resolution down to nannosecond.
