Achim Hartschuh studied Physics at the universities of Tuebingen and Stuttgart, Germany, and received his PhD in 2001. He spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester, New York, USA, in the research group of Prof. L. Novotny. In 2002 he became Junior Professor at the University of Siegen and moved after two years to the University of Tuebingen, Germany. Since 2006 he has been Professor at the LMU Muenchen, Germany. Achim has published about 85 papers and several book chapters mainly in the fields of near-field optics and the spectroscopy of nanocarbons
