Democratizing Confocal Microscopy: A New Benchtop Microscope to Boost Productivity.

Confocal microscopy is a very popular imaging technique for high-quality imaging of biological samples, especially in thicker specimens. Confocal imaging enables the capture of high-contrast images, which are especially informative when reconstructed in 3D to facilitate viewing and analysis of the complete cell, tissue, or organism. However, confocal technology is complex, with the highest performance opto-mechanical designs being part of physically large instruments with complex software functions and control, often needing specialised facilities and experts to operate them.

The new Andor Benchtop Confocal, BC43, is a revolutionary, small-footprint confocal that allows all laboratories in biomedical sciences, industry or elsewhere, to access to an easy-to-use, high-quality system to suit their imaging needs. Designed with an effortless workflow for improved productivity, even novice users with minimal training can be capturing multidimensional experiments in less than an hour. Notably, with BC43, there is no need for a dark room; users can have it on the bench side-by-side with their experiments.
